CAMPAIGN PILLARS
“These pillars and priorities work together to keep a balanced, forward-thinking approach.
Keeping BWG sustainable, connected, safe and economically strong – as it grows”

Cost of Living Management

The Vision: As BWG grows, we will ensure that growth directly benefits the people who live here.

Key Actions:
Cutting Bureaucracy: Reducing red tape and increasing administrative efficiencies to lower costs and speed up municipal services.
Housing for Every Stage of Life: Expanding access to a diverse, attainable, and cost-efficient range of housing options so everyone can find a place to call home.
Smart Economic Growth: Attracting new investments and businesses to create good local jobs right here in BWG while managing our community’s expansion.
Connected & Inclusive Services: Ensuring municipal transit and services are modern, reliable, accessible, and celebrate the rich diversity of our community.

Community Safety & Traffic Improvements

The Vision: Keeping BWG moving and keeping our neighborhoods safe.

Key Actions:
•The Bradford Bypass Initiative: Shovels in the ground for the Highway 400-404 extension – May 14, 2026, with a target completion of December 2030. This critical bypass will redirect heavy through-town traffic away from our core, opening local arteries and keeping BWG moving.
•Affordable, Connected Transit: Enhancing local Transit options to ensure affordable public transportation that seamlessly connects residents to work, school, shopping, and regional services.
•Protecting School Zones & Parks: Implementing targeted traffic-calming measures, enhanced signage, and community safety zones to protect our children and families around local schools and neighborhood parks.
•A Proactive Approach to Safety: Maintaining a strong, visible police presence and highly responsive emergency services.

Improved Healthcare Access for BWG Residents:

The Vision: Understand how important health care is to all citizens.

Key Actions:
•We have lobbied and collaborated with our provincial and community partners to bring expanded health care services to BWG.
•A recent announcement detailed how we have solidified a plan to create a new Advanced Care Centre. The benefits of this are reduced need to leave town for appointments, and immediate access to care.

“Bradford West Gwillimbury is one of the fastest-growing communities in Ontario, and our residents deserve healthcare that keeps pace with that growth. Too often, people have had to travel far from home to access the care they need — that’s something we’re committed to changing,” – Mayor James Leduc

Recreational Opportunities for All

The Vision: As our community experiences rapid growth, maintaining an exceptional quality of life requires a proactive commitment to upgrading our public infrastructure. We must ensure that our recreation and social spaces keep pace with our expanding population. This means investing in comprehensive park upgrades, developing dedicated and modern youth spaces, and executing strategic community center expansions. By building upon the success of major hubs like the Leisure Centre while revitalizing and upgrading our older downtown facilities, we will create a vibrant, connected town.

•Parks, Activities, and Green Spaces: We envision a network of inclusive, multi-generational parks that offer diverse outdoor activities—ranging from accessible playgrounds and sports fields to serene walking trails and community gardens—ensuring every resident has access to nature and active living close to home.
